Whether personal or political in nature, his songs are crafted in his intimate, “alternative world” style. John’s expressive voice enlivens sparkling lyrics that move to an array of compelling rhythms. Focusing on songwriting and recording, John splits his time between New York City and Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. His songs have been heard on the radio and podcasts in North and South America, Europe, and Australia. Pollard has performed in venues as varied as the Bandshell in New York’s Central Park, Rockwood Music Hall, and Casa da Musica, in Bahia.
